I completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at Hornsby TAFE at the end of last year and as part of my Professional Experience coursework I attended St. Stephen’s Preschool in April – June. Since then I have been working at St. Stephen’s as a casual staff member. Thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
This year I will be working in a support role on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to cover reflection and planning time for the teams. I work with the Green Tree Frogs on Wednesdays as well. There may be a time when I will also be working as additional support and relief on other days too. I really enjoy working here at St. Stephen’s surrounded by beautiful children, families, teachers and staff that have welcomed me warmly.
When I was doing my Professional Experience at St. Stephen’s I learnt that the teachers were so knowledgeable about each child’s uniqueness and interests. They approached each child using their own techniques to guide the children’s development. The teachers also used intentional teaching techniques and open ended questions that gave the children the opportunity to think and challenge themselves. They never forgot to congratulate the children when they achieved their goals. I was also amazed at how the children expressed and shared their ideas and imagination with us.
Little bit of about myself…
I moved to Australia in 2000 and I have been living in Hornsby area for over 15 years.I am a mum of two children. Alicia just started going to high school this year and Nicholas is in year 5. We had an opportunity to live in New Zealand for my husband Justin’s work in 2011 – 2014. After we came back from NZ, Sammie the Labradoodle joined our family.
I love travelling, bush walking (I would like to go to Queens Charlotte Track in NZ someday), playing tennis (playing for fun only…), gardening, baking, collecting recipe books (trying to cook but not too much…) and playing hide and seek with Sammie.
I look forward to seeing you all around the preschool.
